This training is targeted towards General Practitioners and seeks to upskill the General Practitioner in terms of knowledge base pertaining to illnesses and associated
psychopathology, providing comprehensive general practice mental health treatment plans and associated referrals geared towards patient recovery. The training also addresses the benefits of effectively engaging consumers and carers as they deliver services that promote recovery. Effective systems of treatment plan review are also a focus point, along with providing comprehensive assessment, including mental status examination and risk assessment. The GP plays an integral role in the entire mental health services system and equipping the GP with the requisite skills and knowledge to fulfil their vital role is integral to the patient care journey.
This one day (8 hrs) Course is Accredited with the RACGP GPMHSC and RACGP CPD Programs, plus ACRRM and completion is a fast track way to accessing the better remunerated MBS Item numbers for GP Mental Health Care Plans (MBS 2715, 2717).
